Blocks Management

The Blocks Tab helps you organize your farm by grouping fields into logical sections (called "Blocks"). Blocks can represent areas with similar soil types, management plans, or geographic locations.

What are Blocks?

  • Blocks are sections of your farm where you group related fields together.
  • Think of them as folders for your fields—each Block can contain multiple fields.
  • Examples of Blocks:
    • "North Pasture" (fields in the northern part of your farm).
    • "Clay Soil Fields" (fields with similar soil conditions).
    • "Winter Wheat Rotation" (fields under the same crop plan).
Tip: Blocks save time! Instead of managing each field separately, you can assign activities or reports to entire Blocks.

How to Add a Block

  1. Open the Blocks Tab:
    • Tap the 🍃 Blocks icon at the bottom of the app.
  2. Add a New Block:
    • Tap the + Add Block button (top-right corner).
  3. Enter Block Details:
    • Name: Give your Block a clear name (e.g., "East Grazing").
    • Description (Optional): Add notes like soil type or crop history.
  4. Save the Block:
    • Tap Submit to save. Your new Block will appear in the list.

Fields Management

Fields are individual parcels of land within a Block on your farm. Managing fields helps you track activities, soil types, and crop performance more accurately.

What are Fields?

  • Fields are smaller sections of land within a Block (e.g., "North Wheat Field" in the "Home Block").
  • Each field can have its own soil type, size, and LPIS number (optional but useful for compliance).
  • Tracking fields separately ensures precise record-keeping for planting, fertilizing, and harvesting.

How to Add a Field

  1. Open the TillageTrack app and go to your Block List.
  2. Select the Block where you want to add a field.
  3. Tap Add Field (top-right corner).
  4. Fill in the details:
    • Field Name: Enter a clear name (e.g., "South Pasture" or "Barley Field 1").
    • Size: Enter acres or hectares—the app auto-converts the other.
    • Soil Type: Select from the dropdown (e.g., "Clay," "Loam").
    • LPIS Number: Optional—enter if available (e.g., "IE12345678").
  5. Tap Submit to save.

How to Edit a Field

  1. Open the Field List for your Block.
  2. Tap the Edit button next to the field you want to update.
  3. Adjust any details:
    • Rename the field.
    • Update the size (acres/hectares).
    • Change the soil type or LPIS number.
  4. Tap Submit to save changes.

How to Delete a Field

  1. Open the Field List for your Block.
  2. Tap the Delete button next to the field.
  3. Confirm deletion in the pop-up.
Important: Deleted fields cannot be recovered. All activities linked to the field will also be deleted.

Soil Samples

What is a Soil Sample?

A soil sample is a report from a lab or testing service that shows the health and nutrients in your field's soil. It helps you decide what fertilisers or treatments your crops need.

  • Reports usually include pH levels, nutrient content (e.g., nitrogen, phosphorus), and recommendations.
  • You can upload these reports to TillageTrack to keep them organised by field.

How to Upload a Soil Sample Report

  1. From the Activities List, tap Soil Sample Reports (top-right).
  2. Choose an upload method:
    • Take Photo: Snap a picture of a paper report.
    • Choose from Gallery: Select an existing photo.
    • Upload PDF: Select a file (e.g., emailed lab results).
  3. The app saves the report automatically.

Viewing and Managing Soil Samples

  • Uploaded reports appear in a list, sorted newest to oldest.
  • Each entry shows the report's filename and the date it was uploaded.
  • To open a report: Tap its name in the list.
  • To delete a report: Swipe left on the report and tap "Delete".
Tip: Use clear, well-lit photos or scanned PDFs for easy reading.
